43 Days

I’m thrilled that I’m back in school. I am not thrilled that my workout schedule has been destroyed. Not being able to run consistently is affecting my pace and energy level. Gradual changes to my schedule are fine but this one was immediate and drastic. I am not complaining. I am making observations. I have to do what I have to do for now. But in 43 days the Princess will be graduating from high school and my morning routine won’t revolve around taking her to school. What does that mean? It means that if I’m serious about running, I’ll get my butt up and hit the pavement before work each morning. Problem solved.

I was thinking this morning as I was dropping my daughter off that this will be the last year of doing this. Eight years of dropping kids off and picking kids up is all coming to an end. No more sitting at the intersection wishing people would utilize both lanes so I wouldn’t have to sit through the red light again. No more maneuvering my way through the parking lot hoping someone will let me cut in. No more phone calls in the middle of the day from the school nurse. No more cell phones being confiscated. It’s true, we’ll have a whole new set of issues to tackle when she moves away in August, but I’m going to savor this moment before that moment begins.

In the next 43 days we have to get through two proms (and all that goes with it), wisdom teeth removal and graduation. Assuming she brings up that daggone grade in Government. Sidenote: What is wrong with these kids? Four years ago I wondered if the Prince was going to pass Chemistry and actually graduate. I held my breath until they called his name. This year, it’s the Princess and Government class. Ugh!

43 days.  I should have a party.

**EDIT -- The Princess has brought the government grade up to a C+!  **

I'm in the process of restructuring my schedule, too. Yay for the princess bringing up her grade!

LOL. I remember telling my brother "Call me on the morning of graduation IF you are heading to graduate. THEN I will get up out of bed and get ready and come on down there!"

LOL. Needless to say he called me that Saturday morning full of glee! What a great day it was.

Princess know she gotta raise up outta there. She might bring it all the way up to a B! LOL

This schedule is like a hairdo, a temporary change for you... You will be running strong once again :)

Yes, with my son it was an algebra class, not because he was having trouble learning. He just wasn't turning in assignments.

Oh counting down the days...And you starting school. Wonderful
