This is it. 2013 Has
come and gone. It was a good year. I learned so much about myself and others and
I am just so grateful to live to tell the story.
The year was filled with events, accomplishments and activities: This year my son finished his Associates
degree, my daughter started her second year in college, I bought a new (to me)
car,
I completed 5 years at my current job and received a monogrammed Waterman pen, I got to travel to San Antonio for
the holiday, and I attempted on line dating (epic fail).
Of course, the highlight was competing in my first Figure
competitions and earning 2-1st place trophies, 2-2nd place trophies and 1-3rd
place trophy.
The trophies are nice but I discovered a passion for health
and fitness that I never knew I had before.
I’m not only motivated to keep myself healthy but I’m also very
interested in helping others to do the same.
Researchers for the Mayo Clinic indicate that
preventing or reducing the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure,
diabetes, colon cancer and high cholesterol can be accomplished through
exercise, healthy diet and maintaining a healthy weight. It’s not rocket science it’s just common sense. I’d much rather spend my time and money
preventing an illness than trying to cure one.
But like anyone else I had to learn what to do and I am
beyond grateful to my trainer for teaching me the basics and literally changing
my life. He inspired me to want to do
the same for others as well. To that
end, I have made the decision to get certified as a personal trainer and
nutrition specialist. I should be fully
certified by Summer 2014. For more than 30
years I have been a faithful employee – now in my 50th year I’m
confident that it’s time to make a change.
It’s time to do something that really matters and I believe this is it.
So, what’s on tap for 2014?
Stay tuned … but in the meantime, in addition to this blog
