If you are reading this in a well air-conditioned room, stop what you are doing and thank God.

Seriously. I'll wait.

I am in the middle of the first heat wave of the season in VA and my air conditioning unit has decided to stop running. Not only that, it (supposedly) can't be repaired it has to be replaced. Not only that, it can't be replaced until Tuesday. Not only that, my parents are coming into town on Wednesday. When am I going to get to do the real thorough cleaning that one does when one's parents come to town?

It's hot in here. It's Africa hot in here. That is why I was up at 5:00 am on a Saturday doing all the things in my house that I won't be able to bear to do later on. Like emptying the dishwasher, doing the laundry, paying the bills, watering the lawn ... well, that's outside but you know what I mean. I stayed in a hotel on Thursday but for some unknown reason I stayed here last night. It's back to the hotel for me. This is bogus.

My best friend, who is probably the thriftiest person I know (and has his wife on the "envelope system") told me to just imagine how much money I'm saving without using my A/C.

I had this problem in 1984. i feel you on the hotel. I did the same thing then. Welcome to the hotel...

I had the same thing happen back in 99. Thankfully, my children weren't here. I know everyone thought I was dedicated at work and at the gym for a month...truth was I didn't want to have to go home until after sunset.

There was a plus side...I lost 15 lbs and my electric bill was incredibly low.

Hang in there girlie. I'm prayin' for you.

Girl I almost cussed and gave you a high five. My AC went out yesterday and it's 20 degrees hotter INSIDE the damn house than it is outside! I had to go to the store last night and buy 2 fans and today I'm in here tring to get my DIY home improvement on with all the doors and windows open. The repair man won't be out until Monday.

Holy sh@# Chele. Your friend said "imagine how much money you're saving???" I don't want to laff, but dayum, I couldn't say that to someone going through this heat. The heck with the money luv. It's not even a luxury at this point, it's a must! Best to you miss.

ROFL! Who are you tellin'? Yesterday at 108 degrees, my a/c system decided to stop working. I was miserable until the scheduled appointment this morning.

I wanted to go to a hotel, but my husband refused. Then, I had to plead for a new room fan for Lowes. I'm not lyin'!
