New Job

I was exhausted. Waking up at o'dark thirty to vote and then staying up until almost 1:00 a.m. to watch speeches and commentary had taken its toll. I collapsed into bed last night at about 9:00 p.m. and got a good 8 hours. I'm feeling better and the events over the past 48 hours have sunk in.

President-elect Barack Obama.

That is serious.

Like Barack, I am preparing for my new job. I'm looking forward to the experience and I know that I am more than prepared. My current co-workers are all vaklempt but they'll be fine. There are quite a few end-of-fiscal-year loose ends that need to be tied ... just not by me. I'm trying to figure out why the folks in our office up north keep sending me "this needs to be done ASAP" emails. For real? I could care less. Incompetence on your part does not translate to an emergency on my part.

The day is totally gray. Cold, windy and scattered showers. Days like this I just want to hang out in the house. I'm getting some great recipe ideas from Tam's kitchen. Ya'll should check it out. This time of year I really like comfort food and last night I made a meatloaf that was fantastic. I know what you're thinking: "Meatloaf? What's so special about that?" I know, right. But the fact is the last time I made a meatloaf was about 20 years ago and it sucked so I never tried it again. Last night, it was perfect. Little victories, my friends, little victories.

Enjoy the day!

LOL @ little victories. I love 'em in whatever form they come. My daughter was struggling in a class and she improved a low C to a B. Not the improvement I wanted, but it's a little victory I can accept.

Congrats on the new gig!! More money, I'm sure. Are you still in the same field?

Really though.

And people don't seem to understand that though, do they?

Nothing like little victories. I think they are numerous for us all, but we don't take time to appreciate them.

@Fab Financials: I don't move unless there's an increase involved! Yes, the same field only now I'm with a large, nationally-recognized firm.

@Ladylee: I don't know why they don't understand ... hell, it ain't rocket science!

@ TJ - Thanks! I was thrilled!

YAY!!!! I'm so glad that you tried it and that it came out perfect!! There is nothing fancy about my recipes...they're just practical. You don't need anything "extra" to make them. Tonight I'm gonna try something new with that Broccoli Cheese soup recipe I posted the other day...I'm gonna use Broccoli, Cauliflower and Carrots!

I'll let you know how it turns out!

Oh yeah...thanks for the plug! =)

little victories lead to be rewards! If you like canned salmon, I can give you a recipe for salmon loaf, which is easy to make and quite tasty.

Love!

First, thanks for the link to Tam's Kitchen. I've been visiting ever since. I didn't see the meatloaf directions, tho.

Second (@Blu): Girl, you can send that salmon loaf recipe my way. I'm all ready with my canned salmon! hehe
