Day 3

Today’s reading was the Book of Haggai. For me, the key verse was 2:4 which encourages us to be strong and work because God is with us.

Be strong
Work
God is with me

I can apply this to so many aspects of my life. I know that there is more work that I could be doing in my church besides being part of the praise and worship team. Praise and worship comes naturally to me so there’s not a whole lot of sacrifice involved. I know there is more that I could be doing. There is an 11-week ministerial/leadership course that my pastor is teaching starting next week and I’ve already signed up. I’ve always wanted to do something like this and I think it took me so long because I question what it is that I have to offer. I’m still not sure what I bring to the table in this capacity but I’ll never find out if I don’t pursue it.

There is also more work I can be doing regarding my physical health. I worked like a maniac in order to look good for my vacation. Once that goal was reached I started to slack off. I’m still in the gym but I’m not strength training like I should be and my diet has gone straight to hell. So I’m going to get to work on developing a better exercise routine and I’m going to revamp our eating habits. I don’t want to use the word “diet” because I’ll probably be eating more in order to jump start my metabolism, but I’ll be eating more of the right things. I read an article today that listed the seven foods every woman must eat: berries, salmon, leafy greens, whole grains, nuts, golden veggies and yogurt. I’m happy to say that I’ve been eating greens, golden veggies and yogurt all week … now onto the others. I have to do this a step at a time, so next week there will be no fried foods, white rice or white pasta.

I hope you enjoy the holiday weekend. And remember to be strong, work and know that God is with you.

Congrats on signing up for the leadership course. I'm sure God has something prepared for you to step into when He says it's time.
