Too Much Weight

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and it's supposed to be beautiful all week. Yay! The roofers finished the roof and even though there was one minor snafu, all is well now.

I went to the gym on Saturday morning and in addition to my usual cardio routine I did some strength training on my legs:

Leg press: 100 lbs 3 sets of 15
Leg Extension: 55 lbs 3 sets of 15
Leg Curl: 45 lbs 3 sets of 15

Today, I can barely walk.

Where did I go wrong? Well, it's been a while since I've worked with weights on my legs and I should have started with lighter weights and higher reps. I am so miserable right now I can't stand it.

On the homefront, my kids are squawking about there being no meat on the menu. My position is that both of them are old enough to prepare something else if they don't like what I've provided for them. They can survive for 31 days. I made rigatoni with meatless meatballs on Friday night. Those meatballs were awful. I don't think I'm a meat substitute kind of gal. I'm going to try these "riblets" I picked up over the weekend and see how they are. I have a feeling they too will be awful. Other than that, I think I'm doing pretty well with this meatless journey. I don't have any serious cravings for meat at all. I drove by Buffalo Wild Wings on Saturday and thought about how awesome those wings are ... then the thought went away. Just like that.

Well tell us what brand of meatballs you used so that we know not to try them.

My bad. I don't have any confidence in anything that is going around masquerading as meat.

They were "Nate's Zesty Italian Meatless Meatballs"

They were NOT zesty.

Yeah, man... You're walking a fine line when you deal with the fake meat. I can't stand soy burgers, boca products, tofurkey, meatballs, cheese... none of that. I've only found one brand that I like, and that's the Gardein products. You still have to hook it up just right. But heck, sometimes it is easier just to stick with the straight fruits and veggies.

I have been playing around with mushrooms lately, and it looks like some of the denser ones can act as meat substitues (Shitake, maitake, enoki, oyster). I'm gonna kick those real hard, lol.

And get in there and fry those kids some chicken. HUMPH! lol

My son likes tofurkey. I do not. I am good with meatless burgers, though. I have some vegan recipes I want to try once I clear some space on my schedule. I don't know if I'm going to venture into meatless meatball territory though :)

Let me write that name down so I never try them. LOL!
I don't know if you have Portobello Mushrooms on your menu but they are delicious. I usually just season one up and put some olive oil in a pan then put it on a hamburger bun with, lettuce, onion, Grey Poupon and curry mayonaise! DELICIOUS! It's packed with protein. I usually have a side salad and I'm stuffed!

Yeah, I think I'd pass on the meatless meat. LOL!

You are doing great if you already are bypassing the cravings for meat. So if you had bought the Buffalo Wild Wings home for the kids, would that have been too much temptation?

I've seen some great recipes using mushrooms instead of meat. But I seem to break out in hives after eating mushrooms.

I'm challenged with 10-pound weights doing squats and lunges. After working out only twice before, my trainer bumped it up from 30 to 50 in my third session with rests in between when I need them.

BW3 has a great cheese quesadilla that I get when I go with friends. Been meatless since age 18=35 years! never did like meatballs even when they were real. I like morning star farms products. and trying a new product now called...dang I can't remember. When I get home I'll post it. You go Chele! Welcome to Vegetarianism.
