Role Reversal

The last text message that I received reads as follows: “It is extremely important that you call me back mom”

It came in at 9:11 pm last night along with 9 missed calls. One from my daughter and 8 from my son.

I was in class so I grabbed my phone, excused myself and stepped out into the hallway to call my son.

“What’s wrong?”

“Where are you?”

“I’m in class. What is wrong?”

“Oh. K called me all upset saying that you hadn’t come home from work and now you aren’t answering your phone. I told her that you were probably in school.”

Deep breath, trying not to scream into the phone.

“I did come home from work and neither one of you were there. Then at 6:00 I left for school. I am in school, remember?”

“Yeah, that’s what I thought."

“Where is she?”

“Home.”

“Where are you?”

“Jessica’s.”

“I’m going back to class.”

If either one of them ever listened to a word I said they would have known exactly where I was and wouldn’t be blowing up my phone. Not to mention the fact that my daughter sent me a text at 2:00 pm stating that she was going to lunch with her girls and by 6:00 pm she still hadn't returned home or called.  These kids kill me.

My oldest son does that sort of thing on the few occasions that I have to step out. The sad thing is that I tell him where I am going beforehand.

LOL *dead* that is funny. I get a daily call from my 23 year old at 6:30 am when I am on my way to work, if I miss the call I get a bunch of text messages about "are you at work" "did you over sleep" or my favorite "where are you" lol
