Sick

I never get sick.  Until this past weekend, that is.   I had forgotten how miserable being under the weather can make you feel.  It happened on Saturday and it was either one of two things.  Either I got the virus that has been hitting the other members of my household or I consumed one too many glasses of wine on Saturday night.  I only had three glasses of wine but I have to take into consideration the fact that my wine consumption has decreased to nothing over the last several months.  Maybe my system just couldn’t take it.  Whatever it was, it led to six straight hours of vomiting and diarrhea (sorry, I know how gross that is).  It was the worst thing I had ever experienced in my life.  By the time I got up on Sunday morning I was tired and weak and could barely move and according to the scale had dropped five pounds.  I was afraid to eat anything but knew I had to try to replace everything that I had lost.  I stayed in bed and watched Roseanne and The Cosby Show on TVLand while I took small sips of water.  Later I had a few forkfuls of brown rice, half a rice cake and a handful of blueberries.  Eventually, I was able to drink some Gatorade and eat some chicken lo Mein.  My daughter had come home for Easter weekend and now she needed a ride back to campus.  We tried to make other arrangements but they all fell through.   So she and I got in the car and she drove up the 90 minutes and I was able to drive back without any more issues. I was supposed to go to the gym this morning but was still feeling weak so I’m spending the day replenishing and I’ll be back in the gym tonight.

I have cancelled my wine club subscription and I’m going to do everything I can to remain healthy for the next 13 weeks.  That was awful.

That is not wine. That is that ratchet virus going around. Knocked me down around Christmas. I didn't eat for two days. Drank a gang of water and juice from the juicer. Ugh. So I know how you feel. It will pass, man. It will pass.
