Small Victories

In the 14 years that I have lived in my house I have never mowed the lawn.

Until today that is.

My son has left the nest and it is springtime and I have a choice to make – actually I don’t have a choice to make.  I have to mow the lawn.  There are very, very few moments in my life when I feel like I want a husband.  One of the times was when I had to put together my exercise bike:

And the other was today when I was trying to start the stupid lawn mower.  Really, anytime I am faced with doing anything mechanical I wish there was a man around.  Of course, I could hire someone but I refuse to spend money for things that I know I can do myself.  Like getting my hair done … and mowing the law.

I was off today and the weather was right and I had the time so today was just as good as any time to tackle the lawn.  But first I had to get the thing started …

22 minutes to figure out how to get it started and only 7 minutes and a google search to get the bag off.

Once I was finished I let my son know and he asked me to send him pictures.  So I did:

Today was a good day.  I was able to cut my grass and I have the best son on the planet.
