Duh!

So I keep seeing these promos for He’s J.ust No.t That In.to You and the thing that keeps echoing in my head is: Really? I don’t mean no harm but are women really that dense? Do women really believe that if a man is aloof and acting like he’s uninterested than that means that he really is? Really? When I was younger I may not have known a lot about men but I did know a lot about self-preservation. I don’t put forth the effort if I don’t anticipate some kind of reciprocation. I have never put myself out there like that. I’m not willing to be humiliated because there might be a slim chance that some dude will grace me with a phone call. Huh? I love me way too much. Yes, I have been duped (married a bigamist, remember?) and every relationship has not been a success but I have never run behind some man. When I was a kid my mother told me that “girls don’t call boys” and when I didn’t listen to her and called my boyfriend anyway, you know what his mama told me? She said, “Don’t call here. If he wants to talk to you he’ll call you.” That’s when I knew that my mama was right and that is one piece of advice that I have always adhered to.

"I love me way too much."

This is why this whole movie just don't sit right with you. And that's a good thing.

I think that most women KNOW when a man is not into them, but some attempt to win men over despite what their intuition tells them.

You may have had the self-respect thing down since day one, but that's not something that comes naturally for every woman.

Shaking my head in agreement with this post and the supporting comments; especially TJs. I recently read something and a part of it said..."getting someone to the altar, doesn't mean you can alter them..." Too many woman don't consider this and endlessly pursue a man knowing he's NOT THAT INTO THEM or down right DOESNT want them for one reason or another.

I have too much self-respect, class, and dignity to play myself out in order to have a man.

Love to live; live to love!

I am behind on the times b/c I remember this being a book...didn't know that it turned into a movie.

Never read the book, but I'm kinda curious as to what earth-shattering clues that the characters dole out in the movie.

I was in my 30s before I could honestly say "I love ME" more. So I can understand why this book (and upcoming movie) is so popular. You are lucking to have realized it at such a young age.

TJ and I actually discussed your post the other day and I disagreed with her then and now about women KNOWING but trying not to know.....I truly think that immature women or those that haven't "bumped their heads on the screen door" yet DON'T KNOW. I think that until they get an example, they believe that everything is honky dory. I'm going to use you as an example....after you called ole boy....you learned a new lesson. There are a lot of women out there that haven't learned that lesson yet.

I read that book and the Sistah Girl Rules....blah!

I was never a fan of calling...but I noticed when I did the calling...my feelings were usually hurt...so I stopped...

Hubby called me constantly when we first met....Traits of a keeper!
