Better Days

Have you ever had a really long prayer session? You know, when you have a laundry list of stuff you want? I used to have those. But this morning I couldn't think of anything to pray for. There is not one tangible thing that I want that I don't have.

So I prayed for peace of mind. I'm praying that my mind will stop racing and that I have the ability to replace the negative thoughts with positive ones.

It's a good day. It's cold outside and I hate the cold but I'm grateful that I'm alive to see it.

I'm so happy that once I decided to pay attention to my budget I was able to make some changes. I signed up for two coupon services which send coupons to my inbox and there's a website out there called couponmom which I visit often which actually has coupons that I can use. I changed my shopping day to Wednesday because my new grocery store does double coupons on Wednesday. I can't wait until the end of the month so I can see if all this really made a difference. I also cancelled my lawn service which will save me about $325 a year. But, I may join a gym, so I'll be breaking even ... sort of.

Even though my child is seriously testing my patience I was grateful that she slipped this under my door on Valentine's Day:

It's sweet. Over the years I've built up quite a collection of her notes under my door.

I'm grateful that even though I still hate my hair, I'm having a pretty good hair day today. And earlier this week the mouth of one of my co-worker's fell open when I told her I had an 18-year old. "You don't look too much older than that yourself," she exclaimed. That was nice.

I have a good life but at the same time I can't ignore the fact that sometimes I just wish I was living a different life. I'm human. Everything isn't perfect every second of every day. But for right now, at this very moment I'm grateful for this life. I'm grateful for the kids, the house, my family, my boyfriend, my church, the support from you my blog family and these ridiculous two inches around my waist ... I'm grateful for it all.

Have a great weekend.

"Prayer is not so much to move the hand of God as it is to change the heart of man."

I heard this a couple of nights ago. It is so true. Glad things are going better for you. My son is 12 and I have a few notes too, maybe I should be afraid... LOL.

Remember that the Princess is a good child... she just, as the old folks would say "Smelling herself right now."

I am learning that peace of mind is more valuable than silver and gold, and definitely worth praying for. I am finding that in my own life, as life hums along, and ebbs and flows, that I must continuously pray for peace of mind, body, soul and spirit... Sometimes, that is really what we need.

I'm not naive enough to believe that I know how God thinks... But somehow, as I read this, I believed that God smiled on your prayer. :-)

I so love what TJ said about prayer and I truly believe that.

I also agree with Hawa that your prayer was smiled on.

Of late, I've experienced some things that might have lead me over the edge, but I remained faithful and prayerful that things can and will change/improve. In spite of the bad, I always look for the good and I'm fortunate that I have a few truly great friends to push me along when I'm feeling a little "out of it".

I've got some notes too from Lil Lady and trust me, she's really sorry. I've noticed that when they write it, it means more than when they say it because they actually have to make it visual as well as vocal.

You're a phenomenal woman; phenomenally, so don't ever forget that.

Love to live; live to love!
