All About Me

We’re all familiar with the Myers-Briggs personality tests, right? Yesterday at work we went a little deeper and here are some of the things that I (re)discovered about myself:

Temperament: Stabilizer

Interaction Style: Chart-the-Course

Personality Type Code: ISTJ

Descriptors: quiet, intense, focused, calm, reserved, private, direct and deliberate.

I find all of this stuff wildly fascinating because the evaluations are so on point.

Taken from “Understanding Yourself and Others: An Introduction to the 4 Temperaments" by Lin.da V. Ber.ens:

What I need from others:

I need to be appreciated for the simple ways I support others day to day. A sincere thank-you or a special gesture that will make things easier for me goes a long way. I like to be asked to be included in projects and events even though I may not always have time to participate. When people follow through on commitments and fulfill their responsibilities in a timely manner, it is more than a courtesy; it demonstrates their respect for me. I love it when people ask for my experience and support.

How others perceive me:

Other people see me as organized courteous, responsible, and loyal. They know I am someone they can count on to help out in whatever way I can. Sometimes people think I am too structured and organized and not spontaneous enough. They often see me as resisting change when what I am really doing is explaining all the things that need to be done to make the change work. People generally describe as a good student, spouse, parent, friend, or coworker.

Regarding relationships:

In their close relationships, they are loyal and faithful. Traditional roles suit them well. They tend to hold in emotions and be less expressive. They can be very sentimental at times, especially over reminders of the past. Thoughtfulness and steadiness are the hallmarks of their relationships. They are most likely to give practical gifts than romantic ones. They need to make sure they get enough solitude, especially at the end of the day to review all that has happened and plan for the next day.

Take the temperament test!

Take the personality test!

Well, I don't have to take the test. I've taken it dozens of times before. Good thing is, I always come out the same - ENFJ.

This may shock you Michelle, but I'm a "people person".

I'm not shocked at all. Based on your view from The Cheap Seats -- ENFJ fits you perfectly.

I am an ISTJ too. My closest friend says that I'm an introvert that masks as an extrovert in social settings...whatever that means (my closet friend is a counselor). Her more detailed examination revealed that I'm not too fond of people, in general, which seems odd.

@ LB - I'm an introvert that turns into a bigger introvert in social settings.
