When I was a kid, I used to shop in Waldenbooks and B. Dalton all of the time. In the past few years, though, they have disappeared from my area. I didn't even think Waldenbooks or B. Dalton existed anymore. I think a lot of this was in line with the big change in shopping from the indoor mall to outdoor shopping centers and strip malls.
I haven't seen a B. Dalton in years. My Waldenbooks is on the list for closure which is too bad because it's close to my house and I always got the best coupons in the mail.
I remember when all of the B. Dalton's disappeared. They say that Starbucks put all of the mom and pop coffee shops out of business. I think the small bookstore is dying by way of Amazon.com. People don't enjoy browsing bookstores anymore and finding jewels.
Yep the mom and pop stores are closing. We are losing another African American Book Store. I think that leaves two here and they are really struggling...
