Pre-Game Show

I went on my first vegetarian grocery shopping trip today. I expected to spend less money but somehow it turned out exactly the same -- about $150 for the week.

This is what I have planned for the week:

Minestrone soup with sun-dried tomatoes and white beans
Veggie fajitas
Veggie pizza
Cheese enchiladas
And a pasta dish that includes sauteed zucchini, squash, mushrooms and tomatoes served over linguine. I used to toss in shrimp. Not this time though. I'll have vegetable soup and/or salads for lunch.

I also went to the gym this morning and my current weight is 137.5 pounds. I'm wondering if my March diet will affect that. While at the gym, I spent 40 minutes on the treadmill alternating between walking and jogging. I burned 350 calories. I worked on the ab machine and I did lateral pull downs. It was a productive day.

Vanity

Vanity: When the goal is to get into a bikini I can work out 5 times a week without a problem. When the goal is to stay healthy I can't seem to make it more than once a week.

I've got to do better.

Crisis Averted

I had a dream last night that I was looking in the mirror and my boobs were sitting on my stomach and my stomach was hanging down so low I couldn't see what was beneath it ...

I haven't been to the gym in a week because I was sick. This morning I got up and went on down there and spent an hour on the treadmill and did thirty minutes of core work. I feel a lot better now.

I'm going to a baby shower today which actually feels kind of weird because most of the people in attendance will probably be half my age and many of the women I know that are my age are already grandmothers. Baby showers are nice, I supppose. I just don't get turned on by onesies and bouncy chairs anymore. All the "ooohing" and "ahhhing" seems a little forced and contrived. Maybe I'm just too critical.

I have to write an unflattering review this week. I'm not looking forward to it, but hey, they all can't be homeruns, right? It won't be vicious but it will be the truth. Look for it on Wednesday over at Delicious!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Slacking

I haven't been to the gym since Saturday and I feel like a big, fat slug. Sunday is my regular day off. I had an appointment at 7:00 pm on Monday so I decided to skip the gym so I could go home and make dinner for the children. Those brats didn't even eat! On Tuesday, I unexpectedly had to work late so I couldn't fit in a workout before Date Night. Now it's Wednesday. I AM GOING TO THE GYM!!!! Especially after last night's dinner. I had what they call the Off the Hook "Rockafella" and here's how it's listed in the menu:

Off the Hook “Rockafella"
Daily catch~ fried oysters~ creamed baby spinach~ fontina mornay~ cherrywood smoked bacon~ stravecchio~ mashers

The daily catch was black cod, plus I had a glass of red wine. We skipped dessert

This morning I had yogurt for breakfast.

I am so going to the gym today.

Work it Out

I went to the gym with my sister on Saturday morning. She's been a member for about a year and even though results are slow to make an appearance, she is making progress. I told her that my primary focus was to work on the abs. Over the long term I want increase my strength (cause I'm a weakling), and tone up so I'll stop jiggling in some areas. Anyway, we did some cardio and then she brought me to the "ab room" and she showed me some other stuff I could do for abs with this big ball thing. So while I'm on the floor, my shirt slides up a little bit and she says, "Oh my goodness! You really do have a muffin!"

**blink blink**

After recovering from the shock of her making this announcement to the people that were closest to us, I looked at her and said, "What did you think I was imagining it? Did you think I was lying?" Geez.

I was able to get a pass for a free week at this gym so I'm going back today after work so I can deal with my muffin.
